Chemical Equilibrium

Many chemical reactions are reversible, and when the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction, the system is at equilibrium. The position of equilibrium can be described quantitatively by an equilibrium constant and can be shifted by applying stress to the system.
